Landscape Designer in Worongary
Hinterland-fringe homes and acreage deserve outdoor spaces that suit the land. We’ll help you plan yours with confidence — so nothing gets lost between the design and the build.
What Shapes Your Worongary Design
Worongary’s ridges and larger lots bring basalt clay, slopes and bushland edges into every garden decision. Here’s what we look at when designing for properties in this area.
98%
Separate houses · Worongary
Almost entirely separate houses, with no townhouses recorded and only a handful of apartments. The median resident age is 40 and the average household holds 3.1 people. The suburb runs from hinterland ridge to suburban fringe, so slope, aspect and soil shape each design.

Basalt Ferrosol on the ridges
Elevated ridge lots sit on deep, fertile red-brown basalt clay that holds water well but compacts if cut earthworks aren’t managed. Lower lots carry sandy clay loam over clay. Steep lots can be shallow with exposed rock and shed water fast, so soil changes with elevation.

Bushfire hazard · landslide hazard
Bushfire hazard mapping covers much of the suburb, where homes sit beside hinterland bushland. Steeper ridgeline and escarpment-fringe lots fall inside landslide hazard mapping, and creek-side lots may carry waterway or flood mapping. Confirm your lot’s mapping before planning earthworks, retaining or planting.

Annual rainfall · 26°C avg max · 68% humidity
Subtropical — around 98 rain days a year, from the nearest station at Hinze Dam. Winters are cooler than the coast, the highest ridge lots can see a very occasional light frost, and exposed ridges catch westerly wind.

“I can absolutely recommend Kieran. He took time to understand our home before advising on the landscape design. I have worked with numerous landscapers over the years and Kieran is the best. On some of his advice I trusted him and now that the plantings are in I can see the beauty of his approach. The landscape has added far more to our home than I could have imagined.

Common Questions About Landscape Design in Worongary
How much does landscape design cost in Worongary?
Fixed-fee packages: Landscape Plan $2,200, Landscape Concept Plan $4,600, and Landscape Masterplan $7,800, all inc GST. Those figures are fixed for a standard suburban block, front and back designed together — acreage, commercial and multi-unit projects are quoted individually. The right package depends on how much of the layout still needs designing. See our full packages or read our cost guide.
What’s the difference between a landscaper and a landscape designer?
A landscaper builds — they install gardens, paving, retaining walls, and irrigation. A landscape designer plans — we create the design, select species, resolve the layout, and produce the plans your landscaper builds from. Think architect vs builder. Most homeowners need both, in that order.
Do I need a landscape plan for my Worongary property?
If your lot sits on a ridge, a slope or beside bushland, a plan is worth it. Much of Worongary is mapped for bushfire hazard, steeper ridgeline lots fall inside landslide mapping, and the basalt clay compacts easily when it’s cut. A plan settles levels, drainage, wind shelter and species on paper, around whatever your lot’s mapping requires, so the garden suits the land it sits on.
How long does the design process take?
A Landscape Plan takes 5–7 business days. A Landscape Concept Plan runs around 2 weeks from workshop to final presentation. A Landscape Masterplan is around 4 weeks. Timelines depend on revision rounds and your availability for the initial workshop.
Can you recommend landscapers to build the design?
Yes — from concept to contractor. We work with a network of trusted Gold Coast landscapers and can connect you with the right builder for your project. Your design gives them a clear scope to quote from, so you can compare quotes confidently.
What plants suit Worongary’s clay ridges and windy hinterland lots?
Ridge lots combine heavy clay with westerly wind, so we favour natives that handle both. Rose She-oak and Brushbox work as trees; Fringed Wattle and Sweet Bursaria fill the shrub layer; Lomandra ‘Breeze’ and Hop Goodenia suit the lower layer. On lots near bushland, plant choice and spacing also follow the lot’s hazard mapping.
