How Do I Know Whether I Need a Master Plan?
Some clients take Concept + Planting to a landscaper they already trust, and that’s the job done. Others are comparing quotes — or starting from zero with no landscaper relationship — and want certainty they’re comparing apples with apples.
That’s what the Master Plan is for. With materials and finishes specified, every landscaper quotes the same thing — no one can undercut the others by substituting cheaper products — and the quote you accept is the job you get.
It doesn’t need deciding up front: most clients make the call at the concept presentation, once they’ve seen the design.
Before You Book
What’s actually included in the fee?
The design fee covers: the on-site workshop or video consultation, all design development, the presentation call, revisions based on feedback, and the final PDF deliverables. One revision round is included — consolidated feedback from the walkthrough call addressed in a single redraw. No separate document fees. Supply, planting and construction are separate — handled by your chosen landscaper or contractor. The concept plan communicates design intent — dimensions are indicative, not construction-set.
Can I use my own landscaper or builder?
Yes — that’s the point. The plans are designed to hand to any landscaper you choose. If you don’t have one, I can make introductions to trusted Gold Coast trades — but there’s no obligation and it’s never a condition.
Do I need to decide on Concept vs Master Plan upfront?
No. Most clients start with Concept + Planting Plan and make the Master Plan call at the concept presentation, once they’ve seen the design and have a clearer picture of the build complexity. The option stays open until concept sign-off.
What’s not included?
Structural engineering, council submissions, DA lodgement, construction documentation, and irrigation or lighting design beyond intent drawings. These can be scoped separately if your project needs them — just ask on the discovery call.
Do you work on smaller or partial-site jobs?
Yes — a standalone Planting Plan (from $2,200) covers a single zone or a smaller DA-required planting layer. For partial-site concept work, get in touch and I’ll advise the right scope. Not every project needs the full package.
What do I need to provide to get started?
Not much before the discovery call — a rough brief, some photos if you have them, and a sense of your goals. After the call, I’ll ask for a site plan or survey (if available), any council overlays, and your Pinterest or inspo references. I cover the design research — but specialist assessments like soils testing, hydraulics, or title searches are outside scope. I’ll flag if your project might need them.
